Cane and rattan have come back into Indian interiors hard, and they bring the problems they always had: humidity makes them sag, the weave traps dust, and in a coastal or monsoon climate they grow things. On a bathroom or balcony wall they are simply not an option.
Rattan Can carries the tight over-under weave of split cane as moulded relief. WS-A1 is a natural straw, WS-A2 a darker aged cane with more contrast between the warp and weft, and WS-A3 a grey-green stain that reads more contemporary than crafty.
It is fungus and algae resistant and fully waterproof, which is why it turns up most often exactly where real cane fails — behind a wash basin, along a covered balcony, or as a full-height panel in a spa treatment room.
